Slipknot Crashing symbols, insanely heavy guitars and bass, loud, strong vocals, mind blowing drum beats and melodic yet sinister percussion. You're thinking Sepultura, Fear Factory, Machine Head, sorry none of the above. It's none other than a tight nit, metal insane band called Slipknot. Hailing from the nice little town of Des Moines, Iowa you couldn't imagine that a band could turn out this twisted, but somehow it happened and now we may have more than we can handle with the band's self-titled release. Slipknot have a familiar, yet new technical type of metal grind with so many extra sounds in the background you don't know what to concentrate on. The nine member band have captured a sound that is diabolic enough to possibly make the softest music lover turn to the wild side of music just to watch these guys fly high into the music spotlight. Tracks like "(Sic)" showcase the band's superb heavy metal sound with what seems like a million different noises in the background. Corey, Slipknot vocalist, has so much power thrown into the vocals of this track it's hard to stop from listening too it over and over again. On "Wait and Bleed" Corey shows his incredible singing voice during the track's chorus, then switching to his by now familiar strong screams. "Purity" is heavy grooving song which comes up in the later half of the album. DJ Sid Wilson is present at the beginning with an original scratching job. This song shows a good portion of all Corey's different vocal styles. Slipknot have exploded onto the metal scene with this debut album. There haven't been many people who have responded negatively to this record. It seems that Slipknot has appealed to the majority of heavy metal crowds across North America. If your into metal at all you'll at least check this album out which has been receiving rave reviews from metal mags and webzines all over the world. Listen - Website - |
